In order to inform her stepfather (Chad White) that she is unable to attend a party he is hosting with her mother, Scarlett (Hampton) pays him a visit. Unfortunately, Scarlett’s marriage to Sam has soured since she discovered he had been unfaithful to her. Stepdaddy, who feels like a genuine father to the small blonde, promises to help her out however she needs it.

After driving about aimlessly all night and even sleeping in her car, she arrives to his house the next day in a very distressed state. When she got home, she discovered Sam with another woman, and they are about to split up. She stays in the guest room with Chad. Before he met her mother and wed her, he told her about his own failed marriage. “Every time we make love, it’s like making love to a stranger,” Scarlett tells him about her unhappy marriage to Sam.
